Transformational Coaching
Presenter: Dino Paris LMFT
This training is designed to help you assist clients in meeting concrete measureable goals in many areas of life: business, relationships, athletics and creative expression.
Transformational coaching draws from many approaches. In particular, it incorporates narrative therapy, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, transpersonal therapy, creative arts therapy, and the Drama Therapy Energy Paradigm. Much of the workshop will focus on narrative therapy as a way to understand clients’ beliefs about self and world and as a way to change those beliefs. As clients become more aware of their self-generated beliefs, they become more capable of changing them, and they become more self-referential in their pursuit of personal goals and personal happiness. The talk will also focus on EMDR as a way to release trauma and increase the capacity to be available to the immediate present.
Those attending will be able to:
Describe the principles of narrative therapy;
Use various techniques of narrative therapy in their work with clients;
Describe the relevance of EMDR in releasing trauma and allowing clients to be more open to change.
Dino Paris LMFT works with business clients who want to increase their sense of personal understanding and their professional competence, and with clients who want to focus on their personal lives.

Equi-Therapy: Horses as Therapists
Presenter: Margaret M. Kelleher, Psy.D.
In recent years, animal assisted psychotherapy has grown in popularity. Traditionally, equine assisted therapy was used to help people with physical challenges to move more comfortably. However the emotional benefits of horse and human interactions are becoming more and more evident as well. This presentation will explore the ways in which horses are particularly able to help people of all ages find new ways of addressing issues that trouble them.
Equi-therapy can mirror and enhance traditional "office" therapies. Therapists often find that their clients come away from an EAP session with experiences that catalyze traditional office interventions. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy has proven to be useful in addressing relationship or parenting difficulties; trauma recovery and healing; self-esteem; divorce adjustment; attention and academic difficulties. This is because the typical equine social (herd) dynamics closely replicate human interactive dynamics of dominance and control, power and submission.
Those attending will be able to:
• Discuss ways equi-therapy can enhance the treatment of serious mood, anxiety, and trauma related disorders.
• Incorporate horse therapy in a client's current treatment plan
• Utilize the Equine Therapy Experience to develop metaphors that might accelerate therapeutic office progress - especially when clients are "stuck".
• Discuss ways the Equine Therapy Experience can translate to the office setting as support for producing lasting change.
Dr. Kelleher is a licensed psychologist in private practice in the Sellwood area. Her practice includes both adults and children and she focuses on play therapy, adult divorce transitions from marital partners to co-parents, psychological evaluations, and equine assisted psychotherapy.
